We all have different reasons for wanting to get in shape
. Losing weight is a big one, appealing more to the opposite sex is another. General health is probably in there somewhere. But many people don't take into account the benefits of getting in shape in order to be able to better defend yourself. Let's face it. Anyone who has seen the evening news in the past ten years knows that it's a violent world that we live in. And it isn't only gangbangers and mafia members who are getting attacked. It is normal, every day people. Random attacks on strangers are increasingly common and occur for a variety of reasons. Typically, the perpetrator is seeking money from the victim.
So if you are ever one of the unlucky few who gets attacked at random, how will you know what to do? The answer is close combat training. This simple and easy to follow at-home regimen is perfect for anyone who does not have prior self defense training. Its principles are simple and easy to follow and they can be learned by anyone, in only a matter of days. However, just abiding by the videos isn't enough to keep you and your family safe. Proper self defense should revolve around daily exercise that works all the muscles of the body.

He knows that to remain at the top of his game, he has to ensure that every muscle in his body is running as well as it can. Most of our first instincts when faced with a violent situation would be to run. But what if you haven't done cardio in ten years and you are coughing and weezing after fifty yards? The criminal will soon catch up with you and make you pay for the extra work you made him do. Although the exercises you will find in close combat training will increase your level of cardiovascular fitness, taken alone won't help you outrun your opponent. If you want to achieve the maximum benefit from the training, it is advisable to start a cardio routine as soon as possible.
This can be nearly anything, as long as it suits your schedule and your life. It can be jogging, brisk walking, treadmills, stair-climber or anything else. As long as it gets you moving and gets your blood boiling. Because if you are faced with a violent situation and do not wish to engage the person, running is your only other option. But you had better be sure that you can run faster and longer than the other person or you will likely pay for it dearly. So on top of your regular close combat training, keep in mind that cardio is just as important. And it will also make you feel a million times healthier with a calmer, happier mind.
