Getting A New Phone Line In Your New House Is Easy
Moving house can be really stressful! When youre dealing with moving all your personal possessions
, signing contracts, dealing with finances and keeping everyone calm, the last thing you want to worry about is your phone line. Unfortunately, most houses you move into, whether you rent or have just purchased a new home, wont have a phone line set up, so its something you have to spend a little time sorting out. Heres some advice about getting your phone sorted as quickly and easy as possible.
There are two main options when moving home and sorting out your
landline connection. The first option is to transfer your old phone number and service from another house, and the second option providing you have used up your contract with your supplier and are free to switch is to get a brand new connection. In many properties, a phone line will exist but not be connected.
If this is the case, you need to get the line activated. As this involves having an engineer out to your house, this can be a costly experience. However, you can shop around for offers to save money dont just run straight to BT as they might not be the cheapest in all situations. BT charge around 29.99 to connect a new line IF you agree to sign up with one of their phone packages, but if wiring already exists it can happen for cheaper or even for free. You can also get a free connection from them if you agree to sign up for their broadband deals. However, BT phone rental and internet are among some of the most expensive.
Primus can also provide a similar service, and are often able to do so for free if most of the wiring to the property exists and is intact. TalkTalk can connect you and offer their packages for around 70, and Virgin will install a cable service into your home for free providing you sign up for one of their monthly packages and a one year contract. As you can see, theres a ton of options available so shop around and see if you can find any new or limited time deals this can save you a ton of money. Comparison sites are great for this.
However, if no phone line exists at all, you may find yourself paying up to 130 to get one installed. This service is available from other companies as well as BT, and you might find that if you already with another supplier they can offer you a much cheaper deal. However, theres no real way of getting out of this one almost every provider is going to charge a substantial amount to sort out an entirely new line and many will ask for a contract to make it worth their time.
