, not only for its ease of learning but also for its large amount of prospects and avenues that you can tackle with a qualification in it.

Events management essentially deals with project management and the organisation, creation and development of events, parties and festivals. There is a great degree of planning involved, as well as research and understanding of target audiences as this is a very much rewards-based career, your performance will be judged on your organisation skills, how well you communicate with the client, how you present and pitch ideas and ultimately how the particular event goes.

Such events can cover anything from organising musical concerts or charity events, right down to a breakfast meeting with businesspeople everything must be carefully calculated and everyone must work together to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible. You should also take into account that news and media organisations may be attending and you will undoubtedly be a talking point, whether directly or acting as a representative or providing quotes.

Therefore, to ensure that the client is happy, you must look at target audiences, overarching themes with the product and conduct careful research to maximise the effectiveness of the event itself.

The event manager will basically act as the supervisor and go-to for every aspect of the event, often driving creative processes, technical efficiency and logistical processes, as well as monitoring cash-flow and encouraging teamwork and communication between all channels.

To work in a career in events management, you should be able to delegate your jobs, have experience working within the industry (even just as a sort of stagehand) and have perfect organisational skills. If you are to let any detail slip and pass you by, then you will undoubtedly suffer the consequences as such problems have a tendency to snowball into major issues.

The events management niche itself is rapidly growing and is currently a multi-million industry, encompassing many other aspects of careers, such as PR and marketing, right down to catering and running. It is a fantastic yet competitive market to get yourself into and a degree is an absolute must to set yourself apart.
