It is true that a regular hair cut every two months or so is recommended. It is not enough to wash your locks regularly with shampoo, or by applying conditioner. What would be more important is to keep it healthy through trimming it on a regular basis. Contrary to popular belief, mane trimming should not be done with just any kind of scissors. Scissors which have been used for office purposes could cause the blades to be blunt and inefficient, and such is not advisable to use in hair trimming. The danger with using dull-blades hair scissors in trimming is that it could cause the hair follicles to bend. Instead of getting a nice, clean hair cut, it often times lead to an uneven hair trim.

You must know that hair strands, being made of delicate, finer materials, should not be trimmed using ordinary scissors. A specialized blade shape is necessary in order for you to properly trim your hair strands. This is why it would be important to use sharp, high-quality hair scissors in shaping your already thick mane.

Hair scissors of top quality are not difficult to find, though. These are available in local drugstores and department stores. You can visit product stores as well and look for high-end scissor brands. Prices vary depending on the quality offered-from a few dollars to a few hundred bucks.
