Getting the Most Out of Cupboard Organization

Getting kitchen cupboards organized can be challenging

. With so much different stuff vying for space, what can you do to make sure that all of it gets organized effectively? And what tools can help you get it organized?

In cupboard organization, it is important to first map out your kitchen. You can draw it out on a piece of paper or you can just get a visual of what your kitchen looks like. It is at this point that figuring out the flow of your kitchen is important. Think about what items you use together and try to get them organized in the same space or at least the same area. You may want to sort things by how you cook. For example, I have the supplies and pans that I typically use for baking in separate cupboards from those that I use for daily cooking.

Once you have that map of where you want items to go, then you need to organize the individual cupboards. If you have a deep cupboard, try to put the items in the back that you use less frequently. If that is not possible, just try to make those items that you use the most easily accessible. That may mean putting them on a certain side of the cupboard that is easier to get to.

Here is also where you need to decide what cupboard organization tools you need. For most cupboards, you will not need much. But there are things like spices and utensils where good tools will be a big help. For spice organization, be sure that you can easily find all of the spices that you use, especially those that you use the most frequently. For utensils, how you organize them will depend on what your drawer space looks like. Organizing by type or by use here is helpful.
