Going Vintage With Cushion Engagement Rings

Also referred to as pillow cut due to its similarity to stuffed pillows, these were initially designed during the candlelit years. Cushion engagement rings end up with lesser facets than other rings, and the output involves lesser sparkle and brilliance as well. Lower number of facets means less clarity and lower quality color. The output includes highly noticeable flaws.

Since the cushion cut diamonds are mostly associated with ancient rings, it is typical to see them in solitaire designs. For those that have additional accents, however, they usually involve ovals and other trilliant shapes to complement the central gem. More so, they are set in such a way that they do not take away the complete attention for the main attraction. They are simply complementary in nature.

Most common arrangements include a cushion cut stone held in place by four prongs that are set in such a way that they do not get in the way of how the ring looks like. Other designs use up more than four prongs, but it is recommended to not overdo the prong arrangement for it can obscure the whole view.

With cushion engagement rings, there is the beauty and romantic glow without the need for flashy effects. They are great for showing a man's overflowing emotions for the love of his life.
