Golf Sponsor Signs Can Come Alive

Without sponsors, many golf tournaments would simply not be possible

. Sponsors help take the financial burden from the shoulders of the event organizers and spread it around. Traditionally sponsors are rewarded with a small sign at hole. While most sponsors readily admit that they are sponsoring tournaments in order to support a cause in which they believe, they also admit they would prefer more memorable golf sponsor signs.

The most often seen types of sponsor signs are the discrete black and white printed sign. Though seen might be an exaggeration as these small thank you signs are generally so bland as to be instantly forgotten. Part of the reason that signs of this type were chosen is usually due to cost since more elaborate signs can be more expensive.

Usually sponsor signs are sold in order to defray the costs of the tournament and sometimes to raise money for charity tournament events. In any event, a sponsor most often would happily buy a more expensive whole sign in order to get a more memorable one. Charity is wonderful and most business persons have special ones but a more memorable sign could actually help raise more money.

With new technology, more printing and sign companies and a greater access to all of it online the choices for sponsor hole signs are almost unlimited. A card could actually be printed on paper inserted into a plastic sleeve and be a duplicate of the current logo and colors of that sponsor for the hole. The signs can be put away for next year and the extra cost defrayed by raising the sponsor hole sign prices a little more.

Businesses which are sponsor golf tournaments regularly may order their own custom sponsor signs. While this might be acceptable with some tournament organizers, others may have problems with it. On the other hand, a tournament might actually increase their sponsorship by offering signs that were customized at a higher price in order to defray the increased cost of these signs.

While tournaments in golf observe a strict code of etiquette and the small signs beside a hole are proof of that. Other sports might permit distracting billboards the sport of golf is not the place for that. A custom sponsor sign can be as discrete as necessary but it also can be of more value in terms of advertisement to the sponsor.

Good taste in this case need not war with tradition. The most attractive feature is that these signs will not usually impose extra costs on the organization holding the tournament. Instead, a customized sponsor sign can be a great way to say thank you to faithful supporters and have them pay for the privilege.
