These are generally used with banner displays, and operate on the very same principle as a roller shade. The roller, containing the banner, sits in a small floor based stand. The banner is pulled up and then connected at the top to a pole that keeps it upright. There are also others that are set up the opposite, with the banner pulling downward instead, however these tend to break more easily.

A major advantage of using these is that they are remarkably easy to learn to set up, or take apart. Keep in mind when staffing events that some of these can be very tall, and therefore require more than one person to handle. Of course, once learning how to maneuver the stand, it becomes very easy to do. This is wonderful news to managers that handle staffing and labor budgets. When deciding whether or not to invest the money in these, it is very wise to collect all of this information beforehand.

When needing to transport presentation materials to various locations, it is wise to make certain that all of the materials were easily portable, and durable. These particular stands are somewhat heavy, but at the same time very compact and easy to carry. The lack of bulk makes transportation far easier than with other alternatives.

When compared to other types of display stands, these do tend to be more durable. Again, this fits very well with traveling. They will stand up to car travel, but also train or air travel. Though they should be handled with care, they can in fact take quite a beating and still work well.

Amidst these wonderful advantages, there are some drawbacks. The most obvious drawback to these stands is the cost. There is a considerable amount of time and effort exerted in making them, which naturally makes them more costly than other stands. In the event that one should become damaged, it will likely need replaced, as repair is often even more costly than the creation.

Acting with care and attention when setting up and taking down a display stand such as this will avoid most damage. Acting in haste would risk tearing the display itself. Think about the issues that roller shades have when the shade does not line up properly when it goes up. It can get stuck, or even torn. The same issues persist with these stands.

The roll up stand is considerably more costly upfront than other alternative stands. Should the stand become damaged in any way, they can be considerably expensive to repair or replace. The disadvantages however are easily offset with the ease of transportation, and the durability. While not suitable for every purpose, for traveling to trade shows or conferences then these certainly fit the bill.
