Great New York Experiences Worth Having

There is no doubt that New York City is one of the most exciting cities you could hope to visit

. But it's not all about Central Park, the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge. There is plenty more to discover here too, so it pays not to go for the obvious attractions all the time.

For instance if you are a fan of TV programmes and movies you'll want to grab a seat on a TV and Movie tour of the city. This is the ideal addition to any New York break and you will start to see the city in a whole new light. If you ever wondered where a certain scene or film was made in New York, you will find all the answers here.

Some of the information is more obscure than others. For example if you have seen the film Enchanted' you will be familiar with the scene featuring the manhole cover. This cover can be seen during the tour. The firehouse from Ghostbusters' will also be on the tour, as will many other familiar sights.

If you are looking for an alternative to Central Park however, you could try the peace and quiet of Prospect Park instead. You'll find it in Brooklyn and despite the built up city around it, this park contains a lake and even a forest. It certainly offers enough to entertain you for a more relaxing day in New York.

Be sure to visit the Prospect Park Zoo while you are there too. There is a wide range of animals to be found there, and it makes an ideal destination for the whole family on any New York holiday. It's also open the whole year round so you'll never turn up to find it closed.

Also in Brooklyn is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It's quite surprising to learn how much greenery there is on offer in this part of New York. The Botanic Garden butts up against Flatbush Avenue and once you are there you will find plenty to do for the whole day.

Don't miss Celebrity Path for example. Be sure to look down at your feet as you walk along as the stones in the path have various inscriptions commemorating famous people who came from Brooklyn. Elsewhere the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden always draws a lot of visitors; it might even inspire you to do something different with your own garden.

As you can see New York does pack some surprises alongside the more familiar tourist attractions and destinations. There are plenty of New York City hotels around too, so you won't have any trouble finding the perfect spot to stay in during your holiday to New York.
