Grosvenor House is an excellent Guest House in Torquay. It is situated in a quiet central location in Torquay, just behind the newly restored Torre Abbey. Along the English Riviera's 20 odd miles of the coastline there are no less than 20 beaches from ranging from wide sandy stretches to hidden rocky coves with rock pools. There is a beach to please you whether you want a beach to lay out your towel and sunbath and swim, build sandcastles, have a gentle paddle, ramble through a rock pool or just a quiet place to sit and watch the surf.

Dartmoor is close by with its open moorlands to ramble and high tors to climb giving magnificent views back to the coast line. There are some magnificent walks on the moors, Nigel at the Guest House will be able to lend a book with the details of these.

Torquay is set in the English Riviera Geopark, allowing you to see ancient rocks and remains, Kent's Cavern is always worth a visit as is Berry Head at Brixham, the Babbacombe Downs and the red sandstone at Goodrington beach.

Another great place to visit is the quaint village of Cockington just a short walk up from the seafront at Livermead beside a stream through the meadow. Here you will find thatch cottages lovely tearooms and the Drum Inn, a thatched pub offering good beers and fine food. In the summer you can watch a game of cricket on the green in front of Cockington Court, to the rear of the court are many studios showing glass blowing, metalwork, blacksmith and many other arts and crafts, you can spend the whole day there and more.
