Growth In Business Use Of Social Media Shadows Increase In Demand For Real-time Parcel Delivery Info

That represents a clear change of heart from just three years ago, when just over one in 10 businesses said it allowed its workforce free use of social media and online networking tools.

The move towards the realisation that social media is a potentially fruitful sales and awareness-raising channel has been led by businesses in the United States with their counterparts in Germany, the UK and Australia not far behind.

The acceleration in the pace of adoption of social media is reflected in employees own experiences, with nearly three in 10 saying their company expects them to establish a social media presence to help them establish and foster working relationships.

A survey which gathered these findings among companies across the world also revealed that bosses worries about their staff wasting their time on social networking were receding, with the majority now trusting workers to take a responsible approach to their use of social sites and tools during work time.

The major fear over the use of social media at work is no longer that it will impact on staff productivity, either. There is now greater concern over security of personal and business information among managers, more than half of whom fear that staff do not take account of such risks when networking online.

When a company is aiming to establish good working relationships with clients, such modern tools, however, are often secondary to the ability to arrange parcel delivery promptly and efficiently. And the widespread adoption of virtual collaboration tools by the express delivery sector, on such useful applications as real-time tracking of consignments, is paying dividends to both the sector, and business in general.

As both the volume and value of items sent by home delivery and worldwide shipping services alike continues to increase, more customers are seeking confirmation of their consignments safe passage throughout their journey that can be offered through real-time collaboration and social media.

So if an employee is using social media in their regular work time, the chances are that they are more organised than may at first be apparent it may just be that they are in touch with the parcel delivery company and keeping watch on the progress of those all-important business consignments.
