Hackensack Bmw 6 Series Dealerships React To New U.s. Auto Regulations
Our United States government, for the sake of the environment
, has decided to drastically tighten fuel economy standards beginning in 2011. The issue is not that they are becoming stricter, but that they are doing it so drastically many car makers will have difficulty keeping pace.That won"t be a problem for BMW though, dealers of Hackensack NJ used cars say. The standards have had only small changes since being implemented as the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAF) law in 1972. Now the average fuel economy must improve from 27.5 mpg (the standard since 1990) to 37.8 mpg by the year 2016. Truck standards will increase from 23.5 to 28.8 mpg.
The BMW 328i has a raw CAF score of 28 mpg because the window sticker rates are from a compilation of tests which are actually much closer to the new standards than we realize. Hackensack BWM 6 Series dealers are confident that BWM vehicles will have no trouble rising to the new standards by the set deadline.
We also have to remember that automakers have been working to increase fuel economy on their own for years as a competitive marketing tool and out of concern for the environment, or at least their public image. Europe also has had stricter standards in many areas than the United States for many years, so BMW may have a head start in that regard as well.
Buyers of Hackensack NJ used cars can be sure that these standards will benefit the customer by lowering fuel costs and pollution levels. But makers still have an improvement quota to meet "" 5.1 percent annually. However, if they are ahead of the curve that can be applied toward their future increases and can balance out.
Like anything from the government, there are many factors and exceptions. The fuel economy numbers given are not hard numbers because those will be individually based depending on the size of the vehicles in the makers" fleets and the specific numbers are not hard and fast restrictions for each and every vehicle that is produced.
Like most things the government dreams up, this doesn"t make much sense, but there you have it anyway. Frankly, I believe if one car has to meet a standard they should all be held to that standard, but it should be set realistically so as not to completely knock certain models out of existence.
So when you"re ready to shop for a Hackensack BMW 6 Series, remember that your fuel economy is already likely above the norm and BMW is working to increase it every day. And if we can"t trust the government to regulate what we drive, who can we trust?
