Hailing The New Kids On The Block: Black Female Models Turned Entrepreneurs

A cursory glance at black female models doesn't reveal much about them

. When we encounter hip hop vixens on television, music videos and magazines, we only see what they want us to see. The image that these models present to the public is carefully crafted to tantalize and entertain hip hop fans who by the way arent complaining. If anything, hip hop fans love what they see and they appreciate these models brazen beauty and sexiness.

For instance, did you know that many of the hip hop vixens you see on TV are actually very ambitious entrepreneurs who have launched very successful businesses? Interviews with some of these women have revealed how they work hard, smart and tirelessly to bring their lofty goals to fruition.

Meet Shanti Saha, proprietor of Saha Concierge. This dazzlingly beautiful model is a nursing graduate from Florida State University. Rather than becoming a nurse, Saha, an ambitious East Indian and Filipina entrepreneur, struck out in a different direction. She started her Los Angeles-based concierge business seeking to provide travel arrangements for high-end clients. Within a very short time this highly intelligent entrepreneur has tucked a few big names under her belt. Her client list is impressive; Sean Kingston, Yung Berg, James Harden, and Cuda Love, to name but a few, are some of her clientele. Diligence and commitment to satisfying discerning high-end clients has enabled her to put together a one of a kind business whose reputation is now growing in leaps and bounds.

Shanti Saha isnt the only model making waves in the business world. As Black Men Digital interviews reveal, numerous hip hop vixens are venturing into commerce, usually in addition to their modeling careers. Black female models increasing forays into business is testimony to their ambition, intelligence and independence. These hip hop vixens have turned previously held notions about black female models on their heads. It was widely believed, for instance, that models arent very bright women hence their choice of profession. The opposite is true though, considering all what these models have achieved.

Beauty is a boon for models, no doubt, and many people imagine that being hot is all it takes to succeed in the hip hop industry. As Shanti Saha and her fellow enterprising hip hop vixens have learnt through experience, it takes lots of time and effort before people can appreciate black female models entrepreneurial drive. Women entrepreneurs are now staking a claim in what was hitherto a male domain and men are slowly, albeit reluctantly, beginning to take note.
