Hair transplantation has become more and more common

, among the young and the old in this society that we live in today. Yes, even the young do take part in this form of surgery that currently is making a living for so many of the surgeons that are experts in this field. Just in case you have not yet noticed the fashion trends that are rocking most of our youth, the plucking off of our eye lashes and eyebrows, just for beauty purposes sometimes will need us to restore some of this lost hair. The best way to go around this is by hair transplantation. What then is entailed in this suddenly common practice?

In a nutshell, this is the technique that is surgically performed to move part of the skin that contains follicles of hair from one place to the other. Of course this other place (called the recipient) is a place experiencing some form of balding effect or otherwise. Grafting from the donor site to the recipient is also done as a way in which to cover up scars that might have possibly been caused by some accident somewhere. In this same light, it can also be used as a face lift method. Restoration of such facial features like lashes and eyebrows and beard can be done through this surgical experience.

A brief look at the skin that produces hair shows that follicles that contain hair usually have a group of around four strands of hair per unit. When transplanting is taking place, these units are taken as they are and replanted in such areas as are desired. These grafts are usually resistant to balding, thus will constantly have some hair on them. A new and modern method of hair transplanting, Follicular Unit Transplantation or simply called (FUT), gives a simple way in which nature hair can be mimicked into such a way that it will produce the same.

Two ways of going about this harvesting are:

1. Strip Harvesting: Using local anesthesia, a strip of hair is removed from the donor source that will take about two weeks to recover. Stitching is done and removed afterwards through medical assistance.

2. FUE Harvesting: Tiny punches of follicles are removed through local anesthesia, making the use of tiny micro blades in the grafting area. In this method, no scars can be seen nor any post surgical pain to be felt.
