The word Carpet is derived from Italian word car pita, which means to pluck. It is due to the weaving style of the fiber used in making carpets. Carpets are mainly classified into two categories. Hand made and machine made. Many fibers are used in manufacturing carpets like cotton, jute, silk and wool. Nowadays many other materials are also used in carpet manufacturing. The carpets have a vast variety of designs, colors and styles. The hand made carpets are more expensive than the machine made. It is because the beauty and elegance of hand made carpets is unique in itself.
The hand made carpets are very much different from the machine made carpets. Hand woven carpets are made with great effort and take time in weaving a good quality carpet. While a machine made carpet is just made by pasting a fiber on a strong plastic base which appears very strong but is not much durable. Hand made carpets are soft light weighted and durable. The manufacturing of hand made carpets include selecting the clean wool, washing it blending and forming yarns, dying the wool for the required design then the dyed material is sent to the looms to weave the carpet. The weavers are experts in their own and they hardly take five to six days in completing the carpet. Depending upon the size of it sometimes more than one weaver work on the carpet. Hand made carpets are the best carpets and are famous all over the world. That is the reason why everyone is ready to pay much for hand made carpets. Although they are much expensive than the machine made carpets but are highly demanded.
