Holland new car dealer wants Jeep Gladiator in its arena

As a life-long lover of Jeeps and former owner of a Jeep Wrangler, and one who drives a pickup, I have to say that the Jeep Gladiator concept is a very exciting concept for people like me. The very implication in the name Jeep - that it can get you anywhere and look cool doing it - is enough reason to own one.

Now Jeep dealership Holland customers may soon be able to enjoy the Gladiator, which promises the endurance of the Wrangler and so much more. With an open-air canvas roof, a fold-down windshield and removable doors, we'll be ready for anything. This model even has an expandable pickup bed (maybe I can fit my canoe in there), and several ingenious storage spaces that allow a place for everything.

Even though it's before my time, it isn't hard to link the Gladiator name to that 1962 full-sized pickup. And who can argue with a name like Gladiator? A wrangler works with a rope, but a gladiator has the sword and perhaps some other cool ancient weapons. No comparison.

When it comes to looks, Gladiator has that as well. Holland new car dealer customers won't be disappointed. With a seven-slot grille, Command Trac part-time 4x4 system, an open air passenger compartment, front winch, full skid plates and front- and rear-locking differentials, this is a vehicle that will encourage you to conquer any terrain.

Even with its vintage name and many features reminiscent of the classic Jeep models, the Gladiator is state-of-the-art. With all the technology you could want, it also is easy to handle and very maneuverable even with the extra length and storage capacity.

One important thing Chrysler hasn't told us about the Gladiator is when it will be available. Soon, we hope - now that we've been teased. There's a bit of a military or "old Jeep" feel to some aspects of the Gladiator.

The colors will include shades like Dark Slate Gray accents on Armor Green. Weather-proof seats allow for the interior to be hosed out if necessary. With that open compartment thing going on, very much off-roading would probably require such.

But there's still GPS and a sophisticated navigation and communication systems. Gladiator also has a very modern chassis and turbo diesel power train. Your Jeep dealership in Holland will likely have buyers lining up for a test drive when the Gladiator hit's the showroom.

While we wait we may have to visit our Holland new car dealer and check out the new Jeep Grand Cherokee with its menagerie of off-road systems and Pentastar engine which is receiving rave reviews.

Gladiator, those of us about to off-road salute you!
