Home Alarm System: Advanced Watchdog
For many people, pets are a part of the family. They may have even been part of the family longer than the kids. Dogs are great companions because they are fiercely loyal and never get tired of seeing their owners. The simplest of things life has to offer is enough to make them happy. Dogs have also been useful when it comes to home security for ages. Humans have long know that their faithful four-legged companions could protect them and their loved ones. But with all the advances in security technology, is it finally time for them to retire?
Ever since dogs have been domesticated, they have been used for a wide variety of purposes. They have helped gather sheep, hunt for food, and have even served alongside armies. When dogs make friends, they protect them from harm. Also, dogs are extremely territorial. If they are allowed to stay in a backyard for long enough, they will start to feel like it's their territory and guard against any unwanted intruders. Putting a dog in your backyard, therefore, not only gives you access to a great new furry friend, but it's essentially an effective home alarm system too. It's really two for the price of one.
Dogs will always be willing to serve their owners, and they will always make excellent companions. But with increasingly advanced home security systems on the market, it's becoming clear that their services are not necessarily needed as much as they were in the past when such technology wasn't so readily available. Dogs will always be great at detecting potential intruders, but they may not be able to compete with the effectiveness of a good home alarm system. If your dog is in your backyard, it might not see someone lurking around in the front of the house. It might not hear the window break and it might not hear the criminal slip through the window sill. The home alarm system though would be all over that. As soon as motion was detected in the house via its advanced motion sensors, the alarm will go off and be much louder than a dog's bark could ever be. The alarm company will be notified and the police will be dispatched. One dog can be a fierce foe, but not as daunting to criminals as a small army of police. A criminal might get away from a dog with torn pants and a bad gash. But the police can end up putting the criminal behind bars for many years. And police will not be afraid of a group of criminals, where a dog might be somewhat apprehensive.
A good alarm system can also detect when a fire is raging inside the house. The dog will probably be able to smell it after a while and start barking, but it won't be able to notify the fire department. The alarm system can and will. This makes it a lot more useful than a dog in this case.
Luckily for dogs, they have uses beyond protecting the home from intrusion or fire damage because they're great companions. But they may have to let the new advanced watchdog take over primary duties of home security.
