A home based affiliate business is a great way to make money from your hobby

. And yet, when trying to think of a way to earn extra cash, most people turn to more traditional business opportunities, ones they probably have little interest in. Either they don't know about affiliate marketing, or they don't realize how many advantages there are in this business model.

One thing that interests most people in starting a home based affiliate business is how easy it is to get started. Another is that it doesn't take much money to become an affiliate marketer. Some have done it without spending any money at all. Others have done it spending little, if any, money upfront. For $25 or less, they can have a profitable business up and running.

This is how affiliate marketing works, and how you can combine it with your hobby. First, you pick a product related to your hobby. Then, you promote it. If anyone buys the product through you, you will make a commission. It's that simple.

For example, take golf. This sport is one of the most popular hobbies around. Those hobbyists who enjoy playing golf are always interested in buying products that could help them to improve. And if you were promoting one of these products as an affiliate, and someone bought the product through you, you would make a commission. How much? Well, some merchants offer 75% of the sales price to their affiliates.

Does the idea of finding products to promote sound intimidating? Well, it shouldn't. Just take a look around. Chances are you have bought many products related to your hobby. And some of them just might have affiliate programs.

Promoting a product is easier than you might think. You could build a small website (one with 3 to 5 pages) related to your hobby, and place affiliate ads on the site. Or you could write a free, very short ebook, and put clickable affiliate links in the report.

It would be impossible to count all of the advantages of building a home based affiliate business around your hobby. After all, who says you can't make money doing something you enjoy?
