Hong Kong's Magnificent Skyline

Home to about 7 million people, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China

. It is world famous for its stunning natural harbor and extensive skyline. Located on the South Coast of China, Hong Kong began as merely a peaceful fishing village and evolved in to what it is today.

Hong Kong is home to more than a staggering 7,600 skyscrapers, which puts the city among the top few in world rankings. The lack of land space from the harbor to the hilly regions has forced the city to look at more and more skyscrapers over the past. Therefore today, Hong Kong boasts an extremely high skyline with high density.

Due to the lack of space, there has been increasing demand in constructing high-rise buildings and offices in the city. This has resulted in Hong Kong being home to some of the worlds highest buildings. It is estimated that from the 100 tallest skyscrapers in the world, around 36 are from Hong Kong itself. This means a large number of people in the region are either working or living above the 14 level than anywhere else in the world.

Due to the construction demand and lack of space modern buildings are being built making Hong Kong a hub for contemporary architecture. Most of the dexterously designed skyscrapers found here are the works of internationally renowned architects. At night almost every day, the Honk Kong Skyline is a treat to watch mainly due to the laser show which is popular as A Symphony of Lights. 33 skyscrapers participate in this show and it is a sight that should not be missed while being in this phenomenal city.

The tallest buildings in Honk Kong include the Bank of China Tower, The Center, International Finance Centre II and Central Plaza. Others include Hopewell Centre, HSBC Headquarters, Cheung Kong Center and many more. All these spectacular and magnificently created buildings add color and beauty to the Hong Kong skyline.
