Hormonal Acne Cures

Acne is thought to be initiated by the effect of masculinising hormones called "androgens"

on oil glands that, during puberty, enlarge and become increasingly sensitive. This results in excessive oil secretion and blockage of pores, which leads to the initial non-inflamed spots of acne (whiteheads and blackheads). As the acne bacteria proliferate, the oil-rich environment in the pores leads to inflammation which becomes visibly apparent as red pimples, pustules and lumps.

However, for most women, the skin disease is triggered by a hormonal imbalance. Thus, females who are susceptible to what is also known as acne hormonal imbalance condition may not necessarily have excessively oily skin, but still they develop acne because of an underlying internal cause.



In my opinion the best way to cure hormonal acne is with the use of natural remedies that you can find around your home, or can be purchased cheaply from local stores. There are many natural remedies that you can use, some work better for other people, some not so good. Here I will talk about the ones that I have personally used to eliminate my acne, and the ones that are most effective.


The most frustrating part for treating hormonal acne is that it usually does not respond well to traditional treatments. Although other types of acne can be treated with benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics, and retinoid, hormonal acne is rather a special case to treat. Researchers have recently found that hormone therapy treatment can treat this condition. Those with hormonal acne usually have increased level of hormones, and thus hormone therapy is the effective solution to the problem.

Zinc is an element that is recommended as it is an antibacterial agent. A low zinc diet could actually cause acne. Zinc is found in almost all fruits and vegetable with these having significant amounts: blackberries, kiwi fruit, peas, corn and sweet potatoes along with others.

Baking soda - Mix baking soda with water and use as a face pack. The absorbant nature of baking soda removes any excess oils contained in the skin. Adding sea salt to this paste is extremely effective in calming inflamed cystic acne.

Chromium is excellent for healing infections on the skin. Its present in many fruits and vegetables but you may have to take a supplement to make sure you are getting enough.


Foods to avoid include refined sugar, meats, poultry, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, nut butters, soft drinks, candies, fried foods, refined and processed foods along with milk products and hydrogenated vegetable oil to name a few.

Mango - Make a face pack using pulped mango, lemon juice and water. Leave applied for an hour and rinse off with warm water.
