I can assure you i have had horrible eating habits. From eating snacks late at night to, drinking some beer and eating dinner at 1 am at night. There are so many ways of having horrible eating habits that i think i might have tried most of them. Eating before bed, eating a lot of junk food, replacing food with candy. Drinking beer instead of food. Soon the day is all about eating instead of living. But why have we become obsessed eating machines?

Well of course we need to eat or we die. But i would like to point my finger to some obvious reasons.

The first issue with horrible eating habits is really the lack of structure of sleeping hours. If i sleep when i feel like and maybe wake up late at noon, my breakfast becomes my actual lunch and so on. It is not a surprise that my hunger for a good dinner appears late at night.

Second issue is that we are spoiled. We have access to advanced technology that makes it possible to go through the day without a sweat. We have cars that can move us a long distance or short distances without having to move much during the time. We have TV:s and computers that gives us endless of commercials that tells us what to buy and what is best for us. The real kicker is that we can order food home so now there is no need to leave the home.

Third issue is that our body that is constructed to walk and run is now deteriorating since we hardly use it anymore. Our muscles need exercise and the only way we can get it nowadays is to make the choice to move in order to stay fit, not because we have to in order to get food.

Fourth issue is our food. Today we can buy everything we want (mostly). There is actually no need to have a kitchen anymore if you can buy every meal prepared. It is easy and it is usually very good to eat. The problem is that the food is not so healthy most of the times.

To get control of our horrible eating habits we need to have structure in our life. The best way to get that is to have a plan to follow each day. There are many ways to create such a plan, but it is mostly not enough in the long run. There is need for support and feedback as well.

So to sum it up there are four general issues to our horrible eating habits. If we know about them, we can overcome them.
