If you live locally and plan on visiting daily, you might get a better price if you agree to do basically everything for your horse from mucking the stall to brushing, feeding and daily exercise. All you're really paying for is a stall rental.

If you are willing to donate even more time and take on some tasks for the other horses, you might even get a better deal. Throw in some extra hay, oats and few bushels of apples and you might end up with a strict barter deal where you pay nothing as long as you keep up your end of the deal.

Some of these facilities have begun working closely with humane shelters in trying to find new homes for rescued and abused horses. To help cover expenses they lease these horses to new owners. This is a great way to help everyone involved, especially the horses who have been rescued. Pricing is usually very reasonably and there is no long term commitment.
