Hot Chip Tickets - Hot Chip To Serve Up Fresh New Album In February
The fourth studio album from British electro-pop import Hot Chip is set to arrive via Astrawerks on Feb
. 9, 2010. The band revealed the release date for its forthcoming album, titled One Life Stand, on Nov. 10, and according to Billboard the effort will feature Hot Chip's signature dance grooves with a dose of soul, ranging from contemporary R&B to gospel.
Hot Chip fans who can't wait until 2010 to hear the new album can pre-order One Life Stand on the group's website, and those who do so will receive a free download of a new song called "Take It In." There is no word yet on whether "Take It In" will be the lead single off One Life Stand, although NME online reveals it is a contender along with the title track.
Additionally, frontman Alexis Taylor told NME online that a third song, to be titled either "The Longest Night" or "I Feel Better," which he described as "the most anthemic-sounding one. A big, massive Euro club sounding track," may also be the first single.
One Life Stand is the follow-up to Hot Chip's lauded 2008 album Made in the Dark, which landed at No. 2 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart upon its release. Between album releases, Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor both issued solo albums while the group as a whole released a compilation effort under the Bugged Out mix series. The five-piece band retreated to London's Lanark Studios to record One Life Stand, which features cameos by Charles Hayward (of the 1970s progressive rock outfit This Heat) and drummer Leo Taylor (of the Invisibles).
Hot Chip first began making fans want to put on their dancing shoes in 2000, when the London-bred group released its debut EP Mexico via Victory Garden Records, the label owned by members of psychedelic rock band Southall Riot. Fans and critics were instantly charmed by the contrasting vocals of Goddard and Taylor coupled with Hot Chip's fusion of techno beats, piano and acoustic guitar. The self-released Sanfrandisco E-Pee followed in 2002.
In 2005, Hot Chip inked a record deal with New York label DFA, releasing the Over and Over EP followed by The Warning in 2006. After supporting The Warning with a heavy round of touring throughout 2007, Hot Chip released a DJ Kicks mix album. The single "Ready for the Floor" arrived later that year and then Made in the Dark was released and was instantly hailed Hot Chip's finest effort to date, although that may all change with the forthcoming One Life Stand.
Hot Chip recently unveiled U.K. touring plans for a 12-date trek that will begin in Glasgow on Feb. 12 and see the group stopping in cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Norwich and London across the pond. Additional European and U.S. tour dates will follow in the near future. To see Hot Chip live, head online for Hot Chip tickets.
