House Cleaning - Establishing Daily Tasks

Giving up a Saturday for house cleaning is no one's idea of a good time

. The longer things are left untidy, the longer it takes to clean and get things back in order. Setting up daily tasks can make all the difference in the world. Instead of spending hours working to get the area sparkling clean, a little bit of time each day can keep things straight and the family motivated. Below are a few small tasks that can be done every day to keep things moving in the right direction.

Kitchen

The kitchen often one of the most difficult house cleaning spaces to work on. When food and grime is left to build up on the surfaces of the counters and appliances, it takes some extra elbow grease to get them up. Every day, wipe down the counters. It takes only minute or two, but it ensures that nothing sits and hardens, causing more problems down the road. Also consider giving the appliances a quick wipe down as well.

Rinse and wipe out the sink. Coming into the kitchen in the morning only to be greeted by a rancid smell is never pleasant. Use the garbage disposal, put the dishes into the dishwasher, and get it started. In the morning, the sink is clear, the counters are clear, and there are clean dishes in the dishwasher.

Bathroom

No one wants to scrub the toilets daily. Instead, as part of a daily house cleaning routine, clear off the counters. Many times hairbrushes, gels, and creams are left out. In order to get a less clutter looked, put everything away at the end of the night. When the counters are clear, wipe them down with a damp cloth.

Rinse and wipe out the sinks. Don't let hand soap or toothpaste sit overnight. It takes just a few seconds, but leaves the area looking better. At the end of a shower, use a squeegee to remove the water from the shower doors. It prevents build up and leaves the doors looking clean and clear.

Bedrooms

Making the bed is often a sore subject with some people. If you are just going to get back in it, why make it up? This task takes another minute or two, but makes a huge impact on the way a room looks. Make the bed every morning. Throughout the day, walking into any bedroom looks better. This house cleaning task does not require any wiping, scrubbing, or mopping, but it is still just as useful.

Pick everything up off of the floor. Have the kids put away all their toys at the end of the day. Don't wait until a weeks worth of dolls, blocks, and crayons are scattered everywhere. Clearing out the clutter creates an open space that is ready for the next day's playtime. When the bedrooms are done, a quick pick up of the rest of the rooms is all that is required to wake up to a clean and clutter-free home.
