While there's a time for deep cleaning and dealing with every nook and cranny, most times one good pass is enough. Don't waste energy obsessing about one eyelash that may have fallen on the floor. Use care when doing house cleaning, but don't go over board. There's no point in spending an entire day making sure one room is spotless, while you still have an entire home to clean.

Involve the kids

No one said house cleaning was a one-person job. If you have kids, put them to work. They most likely helped clutter the home, so it's only fair that they help clean it. Just make sure all kid projects are age appropriate. You could also divide up parts of the home and make kids responsible for certain areas every week. They can make a list and check tasks off as they are completed. This way, you can be sure that particular rooms are always tidy.

Do a little at a time

If the thought of a dirty place overwhelms you and makes you cringe, you're not alone. Instead of getting bent out of shape over clutter, break your duties up in chunks. Before you know it, you'll have an organized, clutter-free home.

Allocate certain days for projects and don't go to bed until they're complete. Also, keep in mind that some duties, such as dishes, need to be cleaned every day, so make sure your schedule allows for ongoing tasks as well as weekly jobs.
