Household Electrical Appliances, Energy Class Is Important

Normally when we start looking for some household electrical appliances

, we are so confused that we run the risk to buy the wrong product, purchasing an appliance with low energy efficiency class.

When choosing household electrical appliances we must first of all consider the budget we have, because even in the case of simple home appliances like electric broom, kitchen mixers and squeezers, the price difference from a model and another can be very wide; a more expensive price is not always synonym of better quality like the price of the final product depends almost always- apart from the technical characteristics of the object- even on the reliability of the materials used by the producer company. There are some companies, like the Italian RCE-Group, which deal with the production of household electrical appliances on behalf of big appliances or electronic companies, guaranteeing then the excellent quality of the final products.

Another feature which affects a lot the cost of the final product for the consumer, is the European Union energy label, as lower is the class, lower would be also the cost of the product, but more would be the costs for the energy supply.

It has been calculated that on average an Italian family spends around 600 /year to feed the domestic appliances. How is it then possible to find the proper compromise between our wallet and the consumption of energy for the family? The first step is to get back that joy and beauty of an home-made orange juice, of the parmesan grated without any electric appliance or of hand-washed dishes, of all these daily actions that up until recently we could do just by ourselves. Once chosen the appliances that we think are necessary for our daily activities (the list would probably include vacuum cleaner, washing machine, hairdryer and such), then we must always choose appliances which are in the A energy efficiency class, or higher classes (in the appliances labels it is compulsory to put an European Union Energy Label with the class of the product and the annual energy consumption). It is moreover possible to buy appliances with the Ecolabel mark, which are then realized according respect criteria towards the environment.

The other commandment for the family that doesnt want to waste electricity, requires not to leave the appliances on the standby mode, as this phase of Pre- switching on costs on average 50 /year for each family; to avoid this waste it is sufficient to turn off the appliances or connecting them all to a multi-plug adaptor, and switch them on when necessary.

In some cases, household electrical appliance are turned on actually continuously, like the fridge- which must then be in A, A+, A++, A+++ energy efficiency class, and must be chosen according to the real needs of the family ( for 2-4 persons the recommended capacity is 220-280 liters); the ideal would be to have the freezer separate from the fridge, in order to have the possibility to turn it off when necessary.

In the case of the washing machine, high consumption costs derive from the temperatures and from the duration of the washes which, with the washing powders now available, can be done even at low temperatures, reducing the costs.
