Household Recycling and your recycling bin
Recycling is an important factor in conserving natural resources and greatly contributes towards improving the environment. A large percentage of household's still do not recycle enough and throw everything that they consider 'rubbish' into their ordinary bin and not into a recycling bin. On average every person in the UK throws away their own body weight in rubbish every seven weeks. Each year in Britain, we throw away 28 million tonnes of rubbish from our homes. This weighs the same as three and a half million double decker buses. A queue of buses that long would go around the world one and a half times. (Source: The Green parent website).
