How Acupuncture Helps With Stress

I must say that after almost 10 years in acupuncture practice

, I can vouch that this form of treatment works best in dealing with stress relief among any other health conditions. People may experience a lot stress due to work, family life or may be having mid life crisis. It's a common condition that can happen to any of us, so this is where acupuncture play a very important role as an alternative treatment.

Stress, as a very strong emotion, interrupts the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. In Chinese medicine, the energy flows through our body along a network of roads, more like a highway system. Stress, or any intense emotion acts like a traffic jam, blocking the free flow of energy in the body. So, when stress is reduced, it is often the case that many other health problems start to stop and fade away. This is because stress keeps your body in a chronic state of inflammation. Pain is maintained when the body is inflamed.

If you are struggling with chronic pain or any other health issues such as diabetes, IBS (Spastic colon), depression, or PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome), it is very important that you become aware of your underlying stress level, as this is oftentimes the root cause of the problem.

Acupuncture has been shown to increase and boost the feel-good neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, along with releasing endorphins, which causes an immediate sense of well-being and balance.

Many people describe to experience more mental tranquility, the ability to breathe more deeply and sleep comfortably without disruption. Others claim that acupuncture causes them to have more positive thoughts and boost their self-esteem which is good.

It is true that the body often mirrors the mind. If you are holding on to negative thoughts, your body will reflect this back to you in the form of negative symptoms. In order to heal the body, we often have to address the mind. As a form of mind and body healthcare, this is where acupuncture excels for modern people struggling with stress.
