How Can Students Avail Scholarship For Educational Programs?

. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program in esteemed honor of Senator Barry M. Goldwater, a Republic of Arizona, who for 56 years had served his country as a soldier and statesman.

Foundation aims to maintain perpetual source of highly skilled, efficient and accomplished engineers, mathematicians and scientists by providing assistance in the form of scholarships to students who aspire to pursue their careers in these respective fields.

College sophomores and around 300 juniors across the nation are bestowed with this Scholarship with the maximum award money per academic year of around $7500, which is merit based. The actual amount is dispersed on the basis of financial need.

Sophomore is a student who intends to pursue two more years of undergraduate study on full-time basis commencing in next session at the time of getting nominated and such nominees can anticipate a maximum support of two years.

Also students who are in two-year colleges and intend to transfer at another institution in a baccalaureate program may get nominated. Whereas junior is a student who intends to pursue one more year of undergraduate study on a full-time basis beginning in the next session at the time of getting nominated. A junior can expect a maximum support of one year.

As per policies and procedures of this scholarship program, students cannot apply directly rather representative of faculty of their college or university has to nominate their names and these representatives only can submit their applications.

Goldwater Faculty Representative is appointed by the president of each participating institution and acts as intermediary between the Goldwater Foundation and the institution.

The application for the year 2009 has been closed and the information for next year 2010 will be notified in September 2009.

Competition is extremely cutting, as every year, college or university at the maximum can nominate four undergraduate students for the scholarship and is thus contemplated as the most distinguished award in United States bestowed upon undergraduates who are pursuing in sciences.

To avail this scholarship, student needs to be citizen of United States or a legal alien and has enrolled in certified degree program in natural sciences, mathematics and engineering in accredited college or university.

Also while selecting candidates for the scholarship, the Foundation Board of Trustees takes in account the nominee's study field and career aspirations and the magnitude of his commitment, aptitude and capability for making a compelling contribution in his field.
