How Does Fake Make You Feel?
Do you happily wear fake jewellery and carry a designer copy handbag or is authenticity important to you?
Do leading jewelry designers such as Pandora, Thomas Sabo, Chamilia, Trollbeads and Tiffany & Co to name just a few, really have anything to worry about even though millions of copies are being sold with their names unapologetically being fraudulently used?
Many of you would be aware of the recent worldwide trend towards charm bracelets. Trollbeads are the original designers of these coveted charms and the creators of the unique style of threading charms onto a bracelet. The trend however was created by the innovative team at Pandora. The marketing of Pandora Jewellery is their success story.
Then came all the fakes.
A quick look around the world wide web and you will see squillions of fake charms being offered for sale with fraudulent claims to the real thing. Ever been told it's 4 Pandora, or it fits Pandora? Another classic example is when copy-cat brands offer glass beads with designs painted on the outside of the glass. Pandora only uses finest quality Murano Glass and the designs are created within the glass. If the bead that you are looking at has painted glass, you will know that it is definitely not authentic Pandora.
This is a thinly veiled attempt to jump on the Pandora bandwagon with a far less quality item. Don't be fooled. If it seems to good to be true it most certainly is.
During our research into creating Trade Your Charms, a unique listing site where you can sell your authentic, preloved Pandora charms to a world wide market, we discovered there are two distinct types of customers. Those who value authentic goods, and would not be caught in anything else, and those who are quite happy to wear a fake. I guess there is another group who swing both ways except for a few chosen labels with whom they will always remain faithful.
Fake can be fabulous.... It is what it is, right?
If someone comments on your fake accessory you are more apt to confess up front it's a fake and then pour over it together looking for the telltale signs. There is a fantastic episode of Sex and the City where Samantha buys a fake Fendi.
After the initial thrill of the purchase wears off it doesn't really make her happy.
The outcome really sums up how fake can make you feel when authentic is what you really love.
At Trade Your Charms authenticity is our policy. We refuse to list items that are fake or copies.
