How Gaming Technology Has Evolved

Over the passing years the technology that drives todays home entertainment systems

has developed to the point where one console can control, play and store all of the items that a person would need in order to remain entertained for a lifetime. With the internet connections that allow web surfing, multiplayer interactions, and downloads of the latest versions of movies, music, and games there is little if any need for another piece of sophisticated equipment to enjoy all that the visual arts has to offer. In some platforms backward converting Blue Ray players allow for DVD, CD, and mp3 playback and have expandable hard drives that accommodate the storage of digitally formatted media that can be purchased online or delivered through a portable device.

Although the advances in gaming consoles is impressive there was a time when individuals were limited to having a simplistic setup that required a hardwired controller to be connected to the unit and that device plugged into a television set. Back in the day the lifelike imagery of simulations and animation sequences did not exist and kids that played video games were limited to the low resolution of pixilated characters that had some degree of movement, but where somewhat difficult to recognize.

From the earliest versions of tennis, enthusiasts been drawn into the virtual world of arcade gaming and invested their earnings in the ever improving technologies that have become a mainstay of the American pop culture. With each new release of a platform the consumers line up to be the first to play with the latest advancement in home electronics. Where the outdated consoles and cartridges are replaced with the next generation of realism and interactivity many owners are finding an outlet to sell video games and provide someone else with the satisfaction of playing on a platform that is still very good, but that lacks the modified updates or draw of the options available in the newly released version.

Prior to being able to connect to the internet, download profiles, customize avatars, play movies and music, or store gaming levels for fully developed characters there were plenty of game makers that held a share of the market and provided their own unique contribution to the world of entertainment. As the years progressed, some of those platforms vanished as the developers focused strictly on the programming of creating software that is compatible across the various entrants from electronics and computer manufacturers. However there is still a market for the classic gaming consoles and cartridges that were popularized over the past 30 years. Collectors interested in preserving the heritage of the gamming revolution seek out older models of past platforms and connect with people who sell video games to preserve the past and salute the work that has made a significant contribution to the modern gamer.
