How I Found Cheap Movers to help me Move and Relocate

Back in 1999 I found out my job was moving to Michigan, so I needed to move out of my house I was renting and move it all from New York to Michigan within a window of about two months. I was prepared for this and so my friends told me not to hire a large moving company cause they would charge me a lot of money for the service and the truck so we found some local people in our area to help us move for half the amount of money it would have taken to hire a professinal moving service. We placed a classified ad on a website for local movers in our area and many people responded but most didn't have the truck that we needed to move all our stuff at once. It took a few weeks to find someone that had the right equiptment to do the job.

Before we started our search for someone that could move us, we inquired around to some of the larger moving companies in our area and found that we couldn't afford them, we had to move a whole house and even Uhall was expensive to rent a semi truck. We found one person online in our area that had a semi truck at the time and wasn't using it and he needed some extra money to keep it on the road so we hired him to move us out to the Motor City, his price was resonable and we also had to make sure he had insurance on his truck because you never know what could happen. It's always better to be safe then sorry.

When the guy and his friends showed up to move our boxes into the truck, they did a great job and when you add in some pizza and a 12 pack of beer into the mix, they seem to do an even better job. They moved our stuff into the truck without breaking anything and they were pretty quick. I asked the guy if he did this kinda stuff before for extra money and he said yes. We saved over $1,200 dollars on hiring these guys and it was a blessing. Many large companies don't care what your schedule is, or when you need them, they make the schedule and the times to show up and if your not ready you don't get the service. The guys we hired had no problem coming out on the weekend to help us pack up the truck and if I was still backin New York I would highly recomend them for their great service.

They drive the semi truck from New York to Michigan and they got it there within twelve hours. When we unpacked nothing was broken but that was due to our good packing skills, you want to always make sure you pack your boxes correctly so nothing breaks and lable everything with a marker so you know where it goes. Nothing went wrong and moving went fine. Next time I move instead of calling up a large company I will just place a classifed ad, I'd rather pay someone that needs the money and get good service then to pay a multi million dollar company that doesn't need the money and will break everything you have and treat you like a number. These guys were great and we love it in Michigan.
