How Managers Acquire New Knowledge And A New Vision

The idea that we acquire all the knowledge we need for our future careers in our youth is now completely outmoded

. The amount of time for which knowledge is currently valid is constantly diminishing and learning new things has become a daily challenge - even for managers. Modern management training encourages continuous learning throughout our working lives.

Learning by talking and listening. Your working day as a manager is filled with communication. Not only do you talk about the things you are familiar with but also those which you have thought through. The impulsiveness of negotiations suggests that you need to discover thought processes you have not yet had to use and think along new lines of thought.

Make use of the discussions you have to increase your knowledge and qualifications.

The necessity of talking to others about matters you know very little about and have not given much thought to gives you new ideas. Coaching, should help you to free yourself of mental blocks during private conversations and thereby set in motion the processes of self-organisation as it is a lasting process of individual counselling. Your trainer will help you to see your own work environment and behaviour from a different perspective, which in the long run will enable you to tackle problems with more innovative ideas and become more creative.

This process can be interpreted as "helping you to help yourself".

You will be made aware of your blind sides, which prevent you from recognising problems and taking the necessary decisions. Use a coach if you have to broach a new subject area. During your coaching sessions you not only learn something about yourself in order to be able to analyse problems and make decisions in a more competent manner - you also learn about the consulting process. This way, you will be able to take on the role of coach at some point in the future.

You can also receive coaching internally within your company by a mentor who can help you to overcome challenges. Become a counsellor to others in your organisation in order to help them. To develop you coaching and mentoring skills further you can also attend a management training course.
