How Productive Is Your Time On Internet?

I have been a techno-freak in whatever sense positive or negative you take this

. I have been curious about how the new and sophisticated technologies work. Interestingly I took no formal education or training on computers, before I started working in a job related to designing and printing. I had only sat beside those working on computers and asked lots of questions to them.Thanks to the cooperative friends, I learned and could handle my responsibilities of the job on computer.

I kept on learning it more, and with time I was so confident with my abilities at job that I could easily switch to working from home that objectively offers me great time and flexibility.But this very plenty of time soon proved a curse for me. I couldnt realize when I became an internet addict. My productivity fell sharply, and for no convincing reasons. I was literally shocked with my dropped performance and the consequent dropped incomes. I was about to collapse as an employee when I came to know the problem and the solution.

Internet addiction is what I had got trapped in.Now I know that there are people who gradually develop links and friendships with people through the social media websites. They start doing this just for a little diversion from their hectic work and soon start devoting more time on it. People do it in offices where there are no strict restrictions against it. But still the chances of plunging into this socialization addiction are higher with those following their work from home. It is because offices observe restrictions on them directly or indirectly.

Either there are software programs that dont allow accessing certain websites; or at least there is a moral obligation not to spend much time on these sites. My case was however a bit different. I was not much interested in people on the net (I think I have enough of them without any internet). I have been interested in technology. As I had no training in computers prior to my job, and I learned all by myself; the habit went on and when I had time to spend on internet at my home, this got sky-rocketed.

I couldnt even sense it and I was spending hours together on looking for new free software, how various software work, from which site could that be downloaded, what are the drivers for many tools and how to install them The list is quite long and so are the options on the internet. I wandered from this question-answer site to that technology site toAny ways it too was an addiction that resulted in great loss of time and money to me. I could resolve the problem (and am writing these lines with a wish to benefit others) only through a hard way of self- restraint.

If you deviate for a single moment taking this excuse or that, and making concessions to yourself; it is bound to grow gradually into a fatal habit. And it is too late before you realize it. There are a number of pretexts if you dont really want to get rid of this habit from the bottom of your heart. But if you wish to rectify yourself with strongest of your will-power, nothing can stop you from doing so.Take a test if you want to know you are at this risk or not.

Do you tell a lie to your family and friends when they ask what you exactly do for long hours on your jobs work from home jobs? If yes, you are at risk. People are more objective observers than you yourself. Stop telling a lie to them for even a single while and pay heed to their complaints. Draw a distinct line between the job and any other -- genuine or non-genuine -- activity over the internet. Follow your self-made rules most strictly. Beware! Any relaxation in this regard can fatally harm your career.
