How To Be Fleeced Out of Your Money
I suppose there are countless number of people out there trying to do just about everything, short of prostituting themselves to improve their financial situation. So let us be honest with ourselves and admit that this innate desire to make more money, (and who does not?) is brought about by the shortfalls that a regular wage imposes; especially if there is a family to support. So who can blame the thousands, if not millions who are soon hooked into believing in that how to get rich quick'. Unfortunately , the only ones getting rich are the deviant, unscrupulous sharks who feed on struggling people
Just to have a starting point, these adds that attract people into the dream of making money are delivered in radio announcements with tempting and catchy sentences to attract the listener's attention. These come in many different forms but the most common is the advertising of conferences on how to become rich through the stock market or whatever else can make desperate people take notice. What the organizers omit to say, is, that the real information on money making can only be gained from the expensive CD's people are pressured into buying.
Another great one is the books that will tell people how to become a millionaire, in the shortest possible time if they follow what the author is recommending. The advice may be good but I find it difficult to almost starve to death, only wear second hand clothes, freeze in winter, and melt in summer. The best one is to give up the car: how will I get to work? Without this necessity i need to leave my house at least two hours earlier. But then, my childminding fees would go up. So where is the logic in that?
But the best ones are yet to come! The ones that I find the most dangerous are the advertisement on line. I must admit that I got sucked in twice myself, once for the amount of $30.00 and the second time $3.00: with the first one i ended up with a tin of out of date revolting skim milk and the second time a newsletter on how to go about making money by selling my home. I must say that my second attempt at getting rich' at least made interesting reading and I suppose I picked up a few pointers in case I want to put my house up for sale.
Unfortunately with the second one I really got cooked'; what the company wanted me to do was to sell the product on line or to anyone who was desperate to improve body performance, with the selling made to look very easy and profitable.
I was going to be set up with my own domain for which I paid the $30.00.(this is where my loss came in) From here I would purchase a large quantity of the magical body performance drink for which I would have to bear all the delivery costs and finally when some desperate or gullible person came along, sell it: but there was the catch which I was not informed of. All the money that people paid with their credit card did not come to me, but it went directly to the company who then would pay me a commission. In all aspects and purposes people buying the product would have been under the impression that they were dealing directly with me and should anything have gone wrong, I would have been liable. Do I need to go any further?
As luck would have it, I have some technical knowledge and was able to work out the domain and how it operated. So not only was this particular company taking money from me to handle their stock, but they were also in control of any sales, with me at their mercy.
Well I have lost a small amount of money but at least I have learned my lesson. Or have I?
