How To Boost Your Self-esteem
There are people who have incredibly high self-confidence and self-esteem like they're
some kind of uber-human and there are people (much more of them) who suffer from pretty low self-esteem.
The following four methods will help you regain trust in yourself.
1. Create something
Planning something and then putting that plan into action feels just great. And feeling great is what you need in order to regain your self-esteem. We all are good at something - so, what's that for you? Are you a writer, a singer, a painter, a gardener, a programmer, a mother? You have the ability to create something out of nothing. Utilize this ability.
Seeing a plan work out and produce results (hopefully positive ones) will give your self-esteem a nice boost because you'll realize that you're not useless or unworthy by any definition.
2. Change your point of view
You're not doomed. It's a matter of perception whether you're able to feel great about yourself or not. Believing in determinism and seeing yourself as a victim of this principle may even be the source of your low self-esteem!
Alter your perspective on life and look out for the good things. Dare to move on, even if moving on means changing something rather drastically. If you have a gut feeling that you need to part ways with some of your friends: do it. Dare to be yourself, especially if you're evolving.
3. Use role models for your purpose
Do you know people who have their self-esteem going through the roof? Do you admire these people? How did they become who they are? How are they any different from you? What makes them special? When do they get up in the morning? What kind of workouts do they exercise? With whom do they hang out? Where do they live? What kind of tv series do they prefer? Do they even have a tv? Which websites do they browse? Do they have magazine subscriptions?
Using role models is a very powerful method to regain your self-confidence and your self-esteem.
Observe people who are like who you want to be. Don't try to be your role model (that's a common mistake) - instead you should adopt their lifestyle (if you're having fun doing it) in order to think, feel and act like your role models.
This is the most powerful and also the most difficult method to regain your self-esteem.
4. Overcome a weakness
This process is similiar to the first method. You're an eternally creative being and it's very likely that you're not fully aware of that fact.
Do you have a bad habit? Yes? Of course you have. Most of us have. What about getting rid of it? Imagine yourself stopping smoking, quitting drinking and ending toxic relationships. How will you feel after overcoming your weaknesses? You will feel the opposite of weak, you'll feel strong. Powerful.
And you are.
