Of course, buying any of the top pro skateboards is suppose to be fun, not give you the feeling you have when you wake up and see it's raining out (hello indoor skate park!). So to help make your board buying experience a little more pleasant, here is a quick buying guide for the next time you visit your local shop.

The first thing to keep in mind is that price tag you see dangling isn't always the best way to tell if a board is good or not. A high priced board isn't always going to be the best choice for you. How you skate should always be the number one factor you consider when buying a new board. What's your style? Do you like a fat board or a long board? Are you big or small?

All of these are important factors to consider when board shopping. As an example, if you aren't packing the pounds, you can go for a small deck, but if you are bigger, then you will need a more solid deck.

Go and visit a few local board shops and start educating yourself. Almost every employee in these shops is a skater and can tell you exactly what you should be looking for. Such as, if you are new to skating, then it is a good idea to start with a beginner's board with a wide deck. You will want to consider not only the correct deck size, but the type of wheels you will need for the skating you will be doing. Take your time and test out the various boards, then get an idea of what each shop is charging for your favorite board.

Finally, go online and see if you can get the board cheaper than in your local shop. Be sure to take into account the shipping and handling charges before making your final decision. Remember, be patient, ask a lot of questions, and only buy a board you are comfortable on.
