How To Configure Netgear Wireless Router

Netgear wireless router has been one of the most popular wireless networking devices

that allows users to interconnect laptops, PC, peripheral devices, and non-PC devices etc. Here you can share media files or documents, browse internet, communicating by emails or print documents etc.

The most important requirement to configure the Netgear Router is you must have internet connection and configuration information provided by your internet service provider when you subscribed to their service. You may also need some of the information for your Netgear router setup like host & domain names, domain name server addresses, fixed IP addresses, Internet login user name and password.

There are two ways to set up your netgear router. The first method is:

1. Insert the Resource CD into your PC, when it starts automatically you will be asked to select the language. Now click on the next to proceed ahead. Now you have to click on 'setup' to launch the Smart Installation Assistant. Now follow the instructions and the wizard would check your internet connection, configure wireless network settings, and choose the optimum security level for your network.

The second method of Netgear Router Configuration is manual set up method. This is also not a very difficult process; you only need to be careful while configuring your router manually.

2. Go to your browser Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome whichever you are using.

Now type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser and then hit 'enter' on the keyboard or 'go' tab on the browser. You will see a login screen, which will prompt you to provide your login information.

Enter your user name and password in the window. If your router is new, then the login information would the default that was provided to you with the router and if your router is same which you already had, then the information would be the configuration information that you entered while setting it up for the first time.

As soon as you have setup your router, you can use it for wireless networking.
