Consider Two Different Aspects
While calculating the size of a heating or air conditioning unit is not rocket science, there are many factors to take into account to ensure that youre making the right decision. Typically, these two different aspects the technical aspect and the comfort aspect should be taken into consideration.
The comfort aspect is when you have to decide as a customer what temperature you like in your house, compared to how hot it is outside. Here in Memphis, it can get up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside in the summertime. If you want the temperature to be cooler in your house, then that needs to be taken into consideration.
When it comes to the technical aspect, we usually first listen to your wants and needs, then take that information and bring that over to the technical side. We have to go inside your home and measure the square footage of the house, taking into account the types of windows, insulation, and ceiling height you have. Then, armed with that information, we do whats called a heat loss, heat gain load on the house. That will determine how much air conditioning you will need to achieve that ideal temperature in the house.
Calculate by Using a Formula
Bigger units will be more expensive, and the bigger the system is overall, the more expensive it will be. So you want to make sure the air conditioner is sized correctly. You do not want to oversize it because you dont want to spend too much money. The wrong size can also cause operational problems such as higher humidity in the home, and you will not be as comfortable.
You can determine your air conditioning unit by mathematical calculation. Its basically like a mathematical formula you take the measurements, the square footage, ceiling height, insulation, windows and type of windows, and you put all that information into a formula that calculates what kind of air conditioning is needed for the home, and what type and size the units should be.
Choose Major Manufacturers
In Memphis, everyone has some form of air conditioning. When purchasing an air conditioner, you should keep in mind that certain brands are more expensive, and the major manufacturers are always going to be more expensive.
