How To Diagnose Vacuum Cleaner Problems

Most of us rely on our vacuum cleaners to get rid of minute dust particles

. But our vacuum cleaner relies on us for maintenance and repair. That being said, you have to be prepared when disaster strikes in your vacuum machine.

There are common vacuum problems with easy solutions. This is the best time to learn how to diagnose vacuum problems.

1. Noisy vacuum machine

The machine is really noisy to begin with. I have it on good authority that upright vacuums create more noise than canister cleaners. You have to be up to the task of listening to your vacuum produce whirring noise while cleaning.

However, if you suddenly notice an increase in noise or a distinct clattering sound inside, there could be something wrong with it. Let the machine run and try to determine the origin of the noise. Something might have been stuck inside the machine. Turn it off and check the interior of the machine. Remove the dirt canister.

More often than not, it is caused by deteriorating belt. You should have it replaced right away. Remove the old belt and install the new one. Test the machine and find out if the noise dwindled a bit.

2. Suction power is no longer reliable

Your vacuum has lost its originally powerful suction system for a reason. More often than not, it is because of full dirt receptacle. You should dispose the bag or remove the contents of the dirt receptacle of the machine. This will allow the machine to suck dirt. It might not be working well in removing dirt because the bag has no more space for more dirt.

You can also try checking the attachment. Make sure it is attached properly. Find out if there are leaks. You might need to purchase a new attachment.

3. The machine is not working at all

If the power died down for no reason at all, it could be the power source. You should check the outlet. Plug another appliance to the outlet and find out if this is working. Change the outlet or plug the machine to another working outlet. You should connect it directly to the outlet and do not use extension cords as the extension cord cuts the flow of energy.

Also check the switch of the machine. Find out if you can switch it on seamlessly. If the power button got stuck, you might need to open up the machine to fix it.
