How To Disinfect Vacuum Cleaner Attachments
Vacuum cleaner attachments usually pick up micro organisms
. Some people also tend to use their vacuum machines to pick up wet and grimy dirt. If you don't clean your vacuum machine right away, it will surely turn smelly after some time.
Cleaning the attachments also has to work on a deeper level. It should be disinfected to get rid of germs and bacteria lurking inside. Germs and bacteria might be transferred if you use the attachments to your upholstery or furniture.
Here are some ways on how you can do this properly:
1. Remove the attachments first. Rinse the attachment if there are visible dirt particles. Get a bucket full of warm water. Add two cups of lysol cleaner. Soak the attachments in the mixture for about 30 minutes. This should disinfect and deodorize the attachments. After 30 minutes, remove them from the bucket and let them dry completely.
2. Remove the attachments and rinse them under running water. Brush away visible dirt. In a small container, mix one cup of distilled white vinegar, one cup of baking soda and two cups of warm water. Make sure you mix these ingredients well. Place it in a spray bottle. Spray the solution all over the attachment. Let it stay there for about an hour. Vinegar has disinfecting properties. It will work in removing the unwanted germs and bacteria. After an hour, rinse the attachment once again under running water and dry it up completely.
3. Fill up a bucket with warm water. Add a cup of lavender extract if you want to disinfect and deodorize your vacuum attachment. Lavender has antiseptic properties. It can kill harmful micro organisms. It also leaves a nice fragrant smell behind. Soak the attachment in warm water mixed with lavender extract for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, let it dry completely.
4. Rinse the attachment and get rid of visible dirt. Mix one cup of lemon juice and one cup of water. Soak a clean rag in the mixture. Wipe the attachment with damp rag. Let the lemon juice solution stay there for an hour. Just like lavender, lemon juice also has disinfectant properties. After an hour, wipe the attachment clean with damp towel soaked in clean water. Let it dry completely.
Keeping your vacuum cleaner clean is one way of improving its cleaning performance. Make sure you do not let this machine develop unwanted germs and bacteria. Regularly clean it as well to keep micro organisms at bay.
