How To Effectively Brand Yourself Using Traffic Exchanges

Traffic exchanges are companies that generate traffic for your website by channeling other website owners to your site, and vice versa

. When you dont have a lot of money for advertising, signing up with a traffic exchange is a cheaper option to advertise your business and generate traffic.

There are two kinds of traffic exchange pages:

-Autosurf traffic exchanges allow you to automatically have the pages change in the web browser. To avoid repetitive stress injury, you may want to take this option. However, if you have a low bandwidth or is being charged for bandwidth traffic, this might cost you more than the manual surfing kind.

-Manual surf requires you to click on a banner-like control to change the pages. There are sites that offer manual traffic exchange for free, so you can begin with them. However, the amount of traffic that this will generate is much less than the autosurf option.

If you do not have a lot of money to spend for full-blown advertising of your website, then traffic exchange is a way to go. However, just like in any mode of advertising, the effectivity of your advertisement relies on the branding of your product.

What is a Brand?

Traditionally, the term brand refereed to the name of the product that was embedded on its packaging. However, as the consumer product industry evolved, the term also developed its meaning into establishing an emotional association with a particular company or product. Thus, establishing a brand is intended to create a lasting impression.

When you reach for a box of Tide, for instance, you know that you are reaching for a cleaner, softer and more fragrant laundry. The orange packaging with the target board and brand name in the middle signals your subconscious that you are hitting stains right on target, and are sure to wash it away. Just like this product, you want your ads to carry effective branding and create a lasting impression with your consumers.

Visual Appeal

If you are selling a diet eBook, for example, you may want to use an ad that features slim sexy bodies, and a bold, in two weeks or, in 10 days across the slim figure. In a few seconds, just by glancing at your ad, you have appealed to the obese consumer at his desire for a slimmer body in a short period of time. This is visual appeal. Remember that your ad should make the connection in as little time as possible, so make sure to use effective visual broadcasts that cater to the emotions of your intended market

Recognition

Create a brand that has recognition, not recall. Unlike the traditional measure of advertising on recall rate, our brain is not designed to recall stored information. Instead, our brains react to stimuli that help us recognize the information. A case in point, can you remember what is the building on the reverse side of a $10 bill? Unless you work for a bank, you may have difficulty in recalling it. But if you are handed the bill, you will recognize that it is the Treasury Building. So when creating your brand, make it easily recognizable to your product. Just like the double arches what do you refer it to?

Color

And what else can you use for lasting impression, appealing to emotion and easy recognition? Color. Exploit its ability to connect to your consumer.

Aside from the fact that it livens up your ad, colors used in branding can provide meaning and recognition to your product. When using it to call attention, red or yellow is effective. But you can also combine colors to make it attractive, such as gold against black or white against orange. Blue generally appeals to men, while green emulates health and freshness. Orange appeals to taste and pink appeals to femininity. Brainstorm the colors that you will use in your brand to make sure that it captures and appeals to your intended audience.

Call to Action

Last step in effective branding: a call to action. In the short time that your brand will be flashed in a traffic exchange, make sure that attracted consumers have a means of connecting to your site, or exploring your product better. This is where you generate the traffic, the lead and eventually, the sale.

For the value it provides to your advertising budget, traffic exchanges are an effective means of promoting your product or service. Just make sure that you have created a brand that captures your market during its precious moments of webtime.
