Social Worker

Working in social care is an extremely rewarding but challenging role to have. You could be working with people of all ages, from young children to adults. They may have a series of problems, whether it is addiction, neglect, conflict, homelessness, adoption or many more. It is your responsibility to build a trusting relationship with these individuals whose case youre assigned to, working with them to establish solutions to their problems over a period of time. You will also be working with other healthcare professionals and your duties will involve visiting individuals homes, hospitals, foster homes and possibly attending court hearings that are involved in each case you are part of. No two days will ever be the same in this public sector job, but it can also be extremely emotional. You are working with people who may have dealt with some very difficult times and you will be an important part of their lives, so you need to remain professional, while still exhibiting empathy and understanding to each individuals case.

Fundraising Manager

Raising money for a worthy cause can be an excellent way to help others. If you have great communication skills and are target driven, this could be the public sector job for you! You will be responsible for raising money for a charity or non profit organisation, through planning and running events. You may also be pitching to the Government or successful companies for extra funding, or drawing up advertising campaigns to increase awareness. Your job will always be very versatile and as a manager you will most likely be running a team of fundraisers or event organisers to help organise money raising events to meet your targets. You could be organising a large ball with champagne and celebrity auctions, or a small village cake sale, however this will depend on the size of organisation you work for. If you have good leadership skills, a creative innovative side and a confident outgoing nature, this could be the perfect role for you.

Administrator

Being organised is the perfect skill for an administration public sector job, and an efficient administrator can be the heart and foundations of a smoothly running office. Filing, bookkeeping, greeting clients, arranging meetings and much more can be just some of your daily tasks! You could be ordering office supplies, typing up reports, proof reading, and most certainly, working to deadlines. You will most likely have a to do list, which youll enjoy working through and completing to your best ability. Some will use this role to progress further onto an office manager, personal secretary or supervisor. You will be working with a variety of different people, from regular staff, bosses, clients or suppliers, meaning you can meet and establish contacts with a number of different professionals throughout your daily tasks.
