How To Fix A Golf Slice

Fixing a slice in golf can be quite a process

Fixing a slice in golf can be quite a process. You can find the cause of the problem by trying to work your way through the possible culprits. Below are some tips on how to correct a golf slice.

If your address is incorrect, this can be a leading contributor to slicing a ball. But don't be fooled, there are numerous other actions that can cause a slice to occur.

A square stance is making sure your feet, hips are shoulders are all in line, and this is what most golfers do. No one wants their ball to soar to the right, so make sure your left foot and left shoulder are perfectly aligned.

Now you need to make sure your holding your club correctly. Holding a club too tightly can cause your club head to open on impact, and a lot of new players tend to do this. Having a grip that is too tight or too loose can both lead to a hook or a slice. You need to have a nuetral grip to prevent the ball from soaring to the right.

Look down at your hands while holding the club - this is by far the easiest way to see if you are holding your club correctly. With a correct grip, you should be able to see two or three knuckles on your left hand. You will have an incorrect grip if you can't see any of your knuckles at all.

To correct your grip, just rotate your hands while holding the club until you can see some knuckles. But to be sure to practice with this new grip quite a few times. By altering your grip slightly will have a huge effect and will last a long time.

But there are more than one tip on how to correct a golf slice. Swing tempo is very important. Try to avoid using your arms to get distance. Many golfers think that this is right, but it hardly ever works. What they do is allow their hands to take control when they reach the height of their backswing, and continue to lead the downswing. Try and avoid doing this, otherwise your club face will open.

Your swing needs to be relaxed and smooth from start to finish. Don't be tempted to jerk the club when you get to the top of your backswing. For everything to flow smoothly, you need to let your hips start the downswing.

Another tip when it comes to correcting your golf slice is to look at your pivot. You will encounter some problems if you notice that your pivot is slightly off to the right. So to avoid this from happening, always make sure your stance is square.

Finding the problems and fixing them will obviously take a lot of time and patience when it comes to fixing a golf slice. But you will soon be able to play better and with ease once you have worked through the problems and found solutions.
