How To Get Self Confidence: 5 Tips For Building Your Self Confidence
It can be a struggle if your confidence has been dented, so here are some ideas on how to get self confidence even if it seems like you're close to locking yourself in a darkened room forever.
Stand tall
Your posture affects the way you feel. If you're always slouched and staring at the floor, your self confidence will follow you and literally drain away. Make a conscious effort to stand up tall and when you catch yourself beginning to slouch, deliberately stand up taller and mentally reach for the sky.
Be grateful
Express your gratitude. Say thank you to people in person or by email. At the end of each day, take a few minutes to write down three things that you feel grateful for today. They can be as small or as big as you want but you need to write them down. Maybe the sun shone nicely. Maybe the phone gave you a break for half an hour. Maybe the traffic lights changed in your favor. Whatever, be grateful and write it down!
Get some exercise
Exercise releases endorphins around our body. These are our own "feel good" drug and by exercising for a while - anything from a brisk walk upwards will do - they'll start to move around your body, lift your mood and - almost by definition- your self confidence.
Stop hiding away
If you've got what seems like a natural tendency to sit at the back and do your level best to fade into the background... Stop it! Force yourself to be more proactive and take part more. Even if it feels really uncomfortable at first. After a while, you'll wonder why you were worried and your self confidence will start to come back into your life.
Banish negative thoughts
We all let negative thoughts creep into our minds from time to time. Sometimes they arrive in disguise, other times they're brazen about it. How they arrive doesn't matter. It's what you do once you recognize them that does. As soon as you find a negative thought dashing into your mind, send it away with a figurative clip around its ear. And quickly fill the space that it was trying to occupy with a more positive thought - which will repel it and send it away anyway. You'll find this will help to get self confidence back into your life.
