How To Get Your Next Small Business Marketing Campaign Read
If you own and operate any kind of business, then at some point youll have to promote your business using some kind of marketing
. And this is no easy task since people nowdays have the attention span of a gnat.
However, there is one thing you can do in your small business marketing promotions to give your next campaign a boost.
Give this short article a read to see what that piece of marketing advice is.
Neil Strausss Formula for Boosting Readership of Your Marketing Campaign:
Author Neil Strauss is amazing.
And recently I heard Neil say something that got my attention like a talking dog. He said that when writing a 500 page book he tries to make the first sentence of every chapter so darn compelling you have no choice but to keep reading. How does Neil know if his first sentence will get you hooked?
Its simple.
He asks himself whether or not what he just wrote will keep you reading well into the wee hours of the morning. Think about that. Doesnt an amazing book make you want to turn the page even if you are dead tired?
It sure does for me.
And you can use this piece of advice when you write a client newsletter... a sales letter... an email to your list... a Facebook post... or any other piece of marketing that promotes your small business.
Just ask yourself:
Is what Im saying so darn compelling it would keep someone reading at 2 am?
If yes, then you may have yourself a dragon slayer.
If no, then keeping working until that bad boy is irresistible.
Why is this so important? Because everybody is constantly distracted. In fact, the other day I heard that kids have trouble watching a 2-minute You Tube video simply because they cant sit still for 2 minutes!
Wow.
This isnt ADD either.
Its information overload.
And its why your marketing (or sales presentation) must keep your reader glued to their seat with interest otherwise youll lose the sale. A way to gauge if you reader is paying attention if you are in front of them is to weave in a few questions to your sales presentation. That way, if they answer, youll know they are staying with you.
Or, if your prospect is reading your marketing campaign (and you are not there in front of them) then you can also toss in a few head nodding questions in order to capture their attention so they keep reading your sales letter... postcard... flyer... web copy... or whatever youve sent them.
