In the city I live in (Portland Oregon) there is a very big and popular bookstore called Powells Books. Anytime of day, Powells is jam packed with buyers. A couple of reasons:

1) First its fresh in your prospects mind. And anytime you can tap into what your prospect is already thinking... you remove much of the pressure from your marketing... which makes getting your prospects attention and making the sale a wee bit easier.

2) Its fun. Dont count out the fact that your prospect always wants to have fun. Sure fun is different for different people. But nonetheless, just about everybody wants some more fun in their life. And a deal like this does just that. It puts a bit of a bounce in your prospects step.

3) Its a good deal. Everybody likes a good deal. And when you give your audience a reason why you are offering such a good deal, your marketing becomes much more believable. And as a result it works much better.

And please...

Dont say your business is different. Or your customers are different. Or something like this wont work for you. I have a client in a very high end B2B industry that uses a March Madness promo to drive sales.
