This will give your puppy the idea that what he is doing is something good or acceptable. Note that you should reward or punish your dog while the behavior is happening, and not afterwards. Punishing your dog after the behavior has occurred will only confuse him and make the house training a much more difficult process.

Another step to house train your puppy would be to develop a schedule. Designate times for your dog's feeding, as well as times for eliminating.
