How To Install House Windows

This might be because the present house windows dont go well with the style of the

house or people just want to switch up the look of rooms and have windows that will make them look roomier or visually enhance the place. Most people hire someone suitable to replace their windows. This is not to say that replacement of windows cannot be a DIY project; it most definitely can.

Follow a few simple steps to replace a window in only a few hours. This will probably take you up to 4 hours.

Before you begin following the instructions, make note of the things you will need to have on hand. A measuring tape and a level will be needed; these you probably already have in your toolbox. New house windows that are the ready-to-install sort are an obvious requirement alongside which you will also require screws and caulk. If you wish, you could go for energy efficient windows that will eventually help lower energy bills as well.

Instructions:

Use a measuring instrument to check the dimensions of your existing window. You cannot replace it with a bigger or smaller window unless you mean to change the place where it will be inserted too.

Choose a style of window that fits your needs. You may want to order a window about a quarter of an inch smaller than your previous window. Your existing windows may have been put in when the house was first built; meaning brickwork and siding was done after their insertion. Hence, only a slightly smaller window may fit in now.

Ascertain that the window opening where the window will go in is perfectly leveled.

Remove your old window alongside its frame. While doing so, observe how this window was attached to the window opening.

If your new window comes with a wooden frame, screwing it in should be no issue. Having wood blocks around a window will be convenient if you live in a brick house because it will make for easier screwing in of the new window.

If it doesnt, you should install shims around the window. These will help keep your window in place. It will make for easier installation if you have either vinyl sliding or vernier underneath.

Screw in your new window. Take your time with it and be patient while screwing it in properly.

Waterproofing is an important part of installing new house windows. You dont want rainwater seeping in. To avoid this, caulk around the window to create a waterproof seal.

Thats it. Youre done. Of course, its easier said than done. If you are both determined and patient, you should be able to get the job done without having to pay someone to do it for you. The end result will not only amp up the look of the house; you will also have something to feel proud of when you step back your new house windows.
