How To Join ANY Cataclysm Raiding Guild in World of Warcraft
Guilds are the very essence of the raiding in Cataclysm, PUG's won't be that popular now because of the new advantages of raiding as a guild. So if you're serious about raiding, you have to get into a guild. It's not necessary to get a spot in the top guilds of your server, as starters. These guild have similarities with professional sport teams and often you already need good gear and skill to get in.
You should always try to be loyal to your current guild, don't be too fast to abandon them because you will risk getting labeled as a "Guild hopper" which can make it quite hard getting into a serious guild.
Before getting into a serious guild you should find one that's focusing on getting through the starter raids, to get more skills and gear. I'll list some tips here below to push you into the right direction.
Start Pugging Early
The way to get into a guild is showing your skills during a raid, to show that you're a natural raider, topping the DPS/Healing charters or never losing agro. If you don't have a guild you can try PUG's. As I said before, PUG's wont be that popular now in Cataclysm, but you will always find PUG's for the starting raids, and here is where you shine. In these raids you will learn the strategies of the raid, how to play your role and basically get a good feeling about raiding.
Get Hard to Acquire Achievements
Achievements is a good show off for when you're trying to join a raid or a guild. If two people with equal gear tries to join a raid, the person with the hardest to get achievements will get the spot. They also check how many Achievement points you have, so doing every achievement you can will give you an advantage of your competitors. The less people having an achievement, the more rare it is and therefor more valuable. Higher achievement points will also increase your chances of getting into a guild.
Join Guild Forums and Try to Add to the Conversation
This is probably the best strategy if you're not an awesome top-notch raider at the moment.
Being active in the guilds forum and in the guildchat ingame will make people remembering your name, and people will rather bring people they know than random strangers. If you know someone in the guild, that can be your "referral" is also a great way into the guild. They can do a "sales-pitch" of you and make or break your success in getting into the guild.
You should however remember to NOT spam the forums/chat with random nonsense or rage at other people in the guild, this is the guild leaders job :), if you do this people will think of you as a drama-queen and a scrub troll. Try to help 9/10 people asking something in the guildchat/forums because these people get popular fast.
If you really want to be a world class player, you will have to prove yourself in different "tests", such as how high your DPS is on a dummy, if you know all the tactics, starter raids to see how you act during the raid and some other might come, so be ready.
You will also have to get used to long hours of grinding and wiping on new bosses, talking about every single aspect of the game with your guildmates. But if you manage to get all this right, your way to a top guild will not be far away, and your time will not be wasted.
